WasteLinks
A UK waste platform in two parts: a marketplace where businesses book licensed carriers at the carriers' own prices, and software that receiving sites use to report every load to DEFRA. We designed and built all of it.
- Sector
- Waste and recycling
- Market
- England and Wales
- Platforms
- Website, web consoles, iPhone app, desktop web app
- Status
- Live for receiving sites

Make waste as easy to buy as anything else, and the compliance automatic.
Waste collection is still mostly bought over the phone, with no visible prices and no easy way to check a carrier's licence. On top of that, since October 2026 permitted sites must report every load they receive to DEFRA. WasteLinks needed one platform that handles both: finding and booking verified carriers, and the paperwork and reporting that come with every load.
- Brand, app icon and product design
- The public website, a blog and a library of 969 waste code pages
- Web consoles for customers, carriers, receiving sites and admin
- An iPhone app for customers, drivers and site staff, on the App Store
- An installable web app for the office PC
- One shared API, connected to Stripe, Companies House, the Environment Agency and DEFRA
Compliance built in, not bolted on.
All 14 production approval scenarios passed, and WasteLinks is listed on GOV.UK as compatible software for Digital Waste Tracking.
Every carrier is checked against Companies House and the Environment Agency register at signup, and licences are checked again every day.
Carriers set their own prices, and the waste transfer note for each job is generated automatically.
Customers can follow their driver live on the day of the collection.
Site staff log loads at the gate, even offline, and can fill the form from a photo of the paperwork.
The iPhone app has been on the App Store since September 2026, with an installable web app for the office PC.
Logging a load, at the desk and at the gate.

One TypeScript codebase for web, app and API.
A Turborepo monorepo: Next.js for the web, NestJS for the API, Expo for the iPhone app, PostgreSQL with PostGIS for maps and distances, and Stripe Connect for payments to carriers.
